Counselor's Message
Our counselors are available to students, parents, and staff to help strengthen the educational process. The guidance program at Canyon Middle School covers a broad span of activities. Services provided are individual counseling, support groups, classroom presentations, and referral services. Some of the topics covered by these services are coping skills, conflict resolution, safety concerns, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress reduction, substance abuse, anger management, family issues, crisis counseling, career choices, and educational opportunities.
The testing program and after-school tutorials are under the supervision of the counselors. Special programs such a Gifted and Talented, 504, Bi-lingual schedules and Special Education referrals also receive the counselors' attention.
