Welcome to the Canyon Middle School Nurse's Page.  I am excited about the upcoming school year as your new nurse. I am married and I have two children at Canyon High School, so I understand a little about these middle school years.  I am an Aggie Class of '00 and have worked in many different areas of nursing. I am very much looking forward to working with you to keep all Jaguars healthy and learning! Please find TONS of helpful information below and contact me with any questions or concerns.

Important Reminders:
1. Parents can bring in non-prescription medications (in the original container) with the parent authorization for prescription and non-prescription medications form for the medication to be kept in the clinic.

2. Prescription medications need a physician’s signature on the parent authorization form for prescription medications.

3. All medications must be brought into the school by an adult in its original container or prescription bottle. For prescriptions, please ask your pharmacist to separate the prescription into two bottles, one for home and one for school. Non-prescription medications must be brought to school in its original container which lists the recommended dosage.

4. Students are not allowed to have prescription or non-prescription medications on school grounds without proper authorization.

5. Students with a fever of 100.0 or higher will be sent home from school. ANY CHILD WHO IS SICK SHOULD BE FREE FROM FEVER FOR 24 HOURS (without Tylenol, Motrin, etc.) BEFORE RETURNING TO SCHOOL. For example If your child goes home with fever on Monday - do not send him/her to school on Tuesday as children's temps are generally low in the morning and rise throughout the day. If they are home without fever all day Tuesday without any fever altering medication, they may return to school Wednesday.

If your child feels ill, has a fever, diarrhea, or is vomiting, please keep them home from school. This will help prevent in the spreading of an illness.

6. Children with bacterial infections like strep should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

7. I MUST have parent or guardian’s CURRENT phone numbers AND an emergency contact number in case your child becomes injured or sick at school. Please email me or call the nurses office with any phone number changes.
