Coach Schmidt - 8th Grade Social Studies: US History

Welcome to 8th Grade U.S. History!

Hello! My name is Coach Schmidt, and I am excited to be your 8th grade U.S. History teacher this year. This is my 11th year teaching and my 7th at CMS. In this class, we will explore the people, events, and ideas that have shaped the United States—from early exploration and colonization through Reconstruction. My goal is to help students not only learn about history, but also make connections to the present and think critically about how our past influences our future.

In our classroom, we will use a variety of activities, discussions, and projects to bring history to life. I believe learning should be engaging, challenging, and meaningful, and I strive to create a supportive environment where every student can succeed.
