Christal King - 6th Grade World Cultures
ALL ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Welcome to 6th grade World Cultures. My name is Christal King. This is my 6th year on campus and I LOVE being a Jaguar. As you can see in the picture, I am surrounded by boys/men at home. I have been married for 20 years and have 3 boys - Lathan - 11th grade, Casen - 9th grade (both at Canyon High) and Easton - 7th grade at Canyon Middle.
I studied at Stephen F. Austin State University. Axe'm Jacks!! My degree is in history education specifically in grades 4th-8th (Intermediate Studies).

I LOVE to travel and see different states/countries. I am an avid ROMANCE reader too. I have read 62 books this year.... so far. My favorites include drinking unsweet Iced Tea every morning from my fake Stanley cup :), WHAT-A-BURGER, The Texas Roadhouse, & Torchy's Tacos
I love watching my boys play football at Canyon. Lathan is an O-line guard on varsity and Casen is O-line center, defensive end on the Freshman team. And both boys are on the Canyon Powerlifting Team and can show their mom whose boss in the muscles department.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN CLASS
This year in class we will be learning about Geography and the world. We start the year in physical geography which branches out to learning themes, how to read different kinds of maps, and human geography with movement. Then we will continue with the World Cultures parts of the class and start with the United States (mostly government) and "travel" through the countries of North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia (Oceania) and finish the year in Antarctica.
I want you to all know that I teach with a fantastic Canyon History team. (Picture included) All grade levels work together to make sure we continue to give your student the best history lessons. My 6th grade team also includes Mrs. Andrea Aleman, and Coach Jacob Ortiz. (We are the 3 on the top left row in the picture)
One unique experience we do in this class is that the team (6th grade) and I teach OUTSIDE at least once a month. We have activities that connect to the content being taught in the classroom. The students will also being working in groups to complete hands on projects within the classroom as well. We will let you know weekly the days to expect the different learning atmospheres.
TUTORING TIMES
My teacher tutoring times will be on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings from 7:45am - 8:15am. Monday & Wednesday afternoons from 3:55 - 4:30pm. The student does not have to stay the whole time.
