This is the first time that the Canyon Middle School has had a SkillsUSA chapter for the Principles of Manufacturing (shop) students. W. Jose Vazquez, the CMS shop teacher, had the interest to start a SkillsUSA chapter at CMS for the past couple years and he's happy that he was able to start the chapter this year. Everyone on campus is excited about the success that the first-ever group of CMS SkillsUSA members have achieved in their first attempt to compete with their woodworking projects. The students worked on their projects after school, on the weekends, and during the Christmas break to have them ready for district competition.
Wish them luck as they prepare to travel to the state conference where their woodworking projects will be displayed and judged among 75,000+ projects from all areas of Career and Technology Education in Texas.
